Modern LCD and Plasma Televisions are comprised of circuit boards, much like the inside of a computer, with many hundreds of tiny transistors, wires, and power supply areas which give your TV optimal picture quality. Any one of these components can fail. You can rest assured with our dedicated team of professionals we will correctly the diagnose the problem quickly and get your TV working again.
To correctly diagnose a problem with your Television please see the following advice:
1. The Basics
If the TV is not turning on try changing the batteries or swapping the batteries over. Sometimes something as simple as batteries may be the problem.
Make sure the plug socket is not completely dead. Occasionally, power surges to the mains supply can damage a socket and make it unusable. Get an extension cable and connect the TV to another socket to make sure.
2. No Picture, No Sound:
If power is going to the TV, but there is no picture or sound, be certain that it is not another issue such as your Sky or Cable box not cabled correctly to your TV. Many customers have disconnected their standard aerial and use their own Satellite box and have not realised that it may be switched off.
- Try pressing the volume up and volume down on the Sky/Cable remote, and the TV – if there is a response and you can see the bar then your TV may have developed another fault. Please contact us immediately.
- Try connecting a DVD Player or Blue Ray Player – if this is working correctly, but your cable or aerial is not working, please call us as this may be a fault that needs correcting within the TV.
- If you do not have any other sources such as Sky or Cable then it is most likely your TV is defective if there is no picture or sound. Please contact us immediately.
3. Sound but no picture
Please contact us immediately as this may indicate a fault within the TV.
4. No tone, but there is image:
If power is going to the TV, and there is sound but there IS an image, then your speaker system may have developed a fault. To make sure, try doing the following.
- Try connecting an external speaker to either the red or white auxiliary outputs available on most TV’s.
- Try connecting headphones to the headphone socket of the TV (if it has one).
- If you do not have any other sources such as Sky or Cable then it is most likely your TV is defective if there is no picture or sound. Please contact us immediately.
- Ensure the mute button on the Sky or Cable box has not been accidentally left on.
